The first book in the de Granville Trilogy is action packed with just a little romance and just a little humor to lighten things up. William and Gavin are siblings and the only two sons of a wealthy landed knight. They, along with their father, leave England behind to serve with Richard the Lionheart on one of his first crusades. Before they leave, Will is given a new warhorse, a chestnut stallion with an ethereal white star gracing the fur above his eyes. Naming him Hosanna, will feels an immediate connection and is willing to overlook the horses smaller than average stature.
The journey to the Holy Land is perilous and those that survive find that their ideas of the romanticism of battle are far from reality. But Will seems to posses a impenetrable shield of protection when he is atop Hosanna and others on the battlefield notice this phenomenon; including one of their enemy, Saladin’s aide, Kamil. To find out to what lengths Kamil is willing to go for this coveted horse, read K.M. Grant’s Blood Red Horse.
