Jess is 15, definitely charming and maybe a little insane but a lot of fun. This british chick lit is well worth read; it is full of laughs, teen agnst, love, hate, bitterness, and ministrone soup. And no I am not going to tell you what happens with the soup, just read it. Jess is in lust with the best looking guy in school and she feels like her best friend Flora is better at everything including attracting said boy. I loved that each of the chapters start with a funny horoscope texted to Jess by her absent father. The story flows nicely and you won’t want to put it down.

The basic story here is that the world is populated by humans and, on an even scale, varieties of monsters. When we first meet Rossamund, the main character, he is being schooled on monster fighting strategies, potions, etc. preparing for a life in the navy. His plans get shaken up a bit as he is recruited for another agency. The adventure takes off when Rossamund starts the journey toward his new life and begins to discover that being a ‘monster’ depends more on your actions than your species.

Everyone in attendance is transfixed by the way Gringras plays the pipes and a feeling of utter happiness rushes through the crowd. That is until they realize that most of the children in town are missing. Callie, the intrepid reporter, thinks she has a lead but following it could mean risking her life or at the very least her sanity. Fans of Fairytales (even the fractured kind) will enjoy this novel by YA favorite Jane Yolen and her son Adam Stemple.

Cal (that’s short for Calliope) has moved around a lot. I mean A LOT. Her mom follows the Faire circuit (as in Renaissance) and Cal has to tag along. When they roll into Asheville, Cal knows this place won’t be any different from those last places they called ‘home’. But, she’s wrong. This time there is something different and it may just be that guy with the green lipstick. His name is Eliot and technically it’s not lipstick, just a chemical reaction between his gum and the pyrotechnic powders he was using a few minutes ago. Ok, that still sounds weird, doesn’t it? Anyway, Cal and Eliot fit together in ways neither of them expected. But, what will happen when the Faire winds down for the summer? His traumatic fall down the stairs of her high school in New York helped her become acquainted with the mysterious James. Naomi struggles to remember her best friend Will while also juggling her past activities with her new ones. I really enjoyed this book, I loved how the author showed the real struggle and confusion of someone who is afflicted with amnesia. This book really makes you wonder and ask yourself the questions of “what would I do if 4 years were taken away from my memory?” This book will grab you and keep you reading till the end. ---- Kate L.

Tattoo by Jennifer Lynn Barnes was a great book. If you like magical stories with a soul sucking evil sister then its for you. I didn’t want to put it down. How would you feel if you fell down stairs, and lost your memory of the last 4 years? In the book, Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac, Naomi has to figure out what happened and who she became in the last 4 years. His traumatic fall down the stairs of her high school in New York helped her become acquainted with the mysterious James. Naomi struggles to remember her best friend Will while also juggling her past activities with her new ones. I really enjoyed this book, I loved how the author showed the real struggle and confusion of someone who is afflicted with amnesia. This book really makes you wonder and ask yourself the questions of “what would I do if 4 years were taken away from my memory?” This book will grab you and keep you reading till the end. ---- Kate L.

Leo Caraway had his life perfectly laid out. He was Junior Republican, had a scholarship and early acceptance into Harvard, with a GPA of 4.0. Life was going his way, until he met the King. After almost 17 years, he finally met his birth father. When the truth comes out no one can believe it. I think Born to Rock is a great book to read at anytime. It’s very unique with a surprising twist. I recommend this book to anyone who believes exciting things can’t happen to everyday people.--- Brandie G.
